re.product 2
KNOCKOUTDESIGN was commissioned by Institute of Industrial Design to be curator and designer of re.product 2 an opening exhibition of Gdynia Design Days.

Re.product 2 exhibition is an extension of the re.product exhibition curated and designed by Knockotdesign that was organized in autumn 2009 by SPOT. Foundation in Poznan. The objective of the exhibition is to present examples of design solutions aiming at creating environmentally- friendly products. The life cycle of every object is complex and intertwined with a multitude of accompanying processes. Therefore, it is difficult to state clearly which objects and to what extent meet the above requirement. We therefore see the objects presented at the exhibition more as attractive attempts at executing a product that is fully sustainable than full, completed definitions of such objects. An important criterion in the selection of objects and strategies presented at re.product 2 was to what extent they express a viewpoint in a debate on the key phenomena in contemporary design. One of them is a conscious organization of the design process in line with the principles of the 3R concept.

The exhibition has been divided into three extensive thematic areas, each following on of the paths of sustainable development: reduce, recycle and reuse. In total as part of all the three categories, we present 35 objects created by designers from Europe, Asia and North America. In addition, we have decided to prepare a separate area named Strategies, fully devoted to the presentation of six selected companies. The companies are characterized by interesting internal policies, organizational cultures that foster creative, environmental solutions and innovative approach to production, which brings us closer to the achievement of the sustainable development concept.

Participating designers: Komplot, Mischer Traxler, Knockoutdesign, Bartosz Mucha, Nicolas Cortolezzis, Katarzyna Okinczyc, Preco Logic, Daria Burlinska, Think the earth project, Claus Bjerre, Tord Boontje & Emma Woffenden, Karina Marusinska, Remigiusz Truchanowicz, Anna Bullus, Tina Ratzer, Malden Mills, Lotsdesign, Apokalyps Labotek, Wasara.

Participating companies: Bang & Olufsen, Herman Miller, Freitag, Pli Design Ltd, Elkle, InterfaceFLOR.
